The first event I covered for fundfindr.tv was the Wired Woman networking gathering at Subees Restaurant in Vancouver BC, and boy did I network. Everyone was extremely friendly, supportive, and curious about what everyone else was doing; women at their best. The National President, Lindsay Smith, was voted one of the Top 40 under 40, and is a successful entrepreneur herself, being the founder of Massive Events (watch for coverage of a networking event coming soon on fundfindr.tv).
The business cards were flying around the room and women of all ages were busy sharing ideas and advice. It was serious business, but with a dash of fun. Everyone kept saying “women love their wine.” There certainly was a lot of use of alliteration that night. Two Ministers attended the event and a donation from both the Ministry of Community Services and the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue was made to better enable Wired Woman in their mentoring programme. We all know how important that is for entrepreneurs. As for the grand finale of the evening, to mark their tenth anniversary, the fresh logo was unveiled.
