One of the very cool technologies we’ve seen recently is CellMap, a mobile application that gets you where you want to go and then shares interactive information that you are looking for. Follow fundfindr.tv’s Shannon Kaplun and CellMap CEO, Aaron Hilton as they take care of important business in Whistler, BC! CellMap was the winner of the Best mobile application at the recent PopVox awards and a runner-up in our Pitchies Warm-up event.
Don’t forget to enter the Pitchies to win up to $20k in cool prizes. Plus, if you want a cool demo for your product, give Shannon a shout at shannon@fundfindr.tv. Only Shannon, Danita and videographer extraordinaire, Ben Z. Cooper, can bring your product to life in our fun, entertaining, informative and effective way. If we like the technology, you could be next to be featured on fundfindr.tv demos!
Congratulations to Nikki Layton of Volo Innovations who will be spending a luxury week-end in Whistler for winning The Pitchies WarmUp exclusively for New Ventures BC competitors! Nikki was judged by the fundfindr team as having the best overall pitch page including her elevator pitch video, pitch page information and profile. Comments included: “A very direct pitch that immediately hones in on the pain the product solves and the scale of the opportunity.” Full marks for having a complete profile (the executive summary) and for the passion and clear industry knowledge captured in the pitch.
Congratulations to 3 other pitchers who came very close to winning!
Cynthia Roney of Pneuvation. Kudos for Cynthia included “ Wow, compelling from start to finish. Great use of pitch page to convey story. Much better than others at establishing market opportunity.”
Aaron Hilton of Cellmaps. Props for Aaron included “Good use of editing software to provide graphics into elevator pitch. Great use of pitch page. A compelling story that would attract investors.”
James Sherrett of Adhack. Finally, James pitch was highly regarded including “A relaxed pitch with just the right amount of information to make me want to read more. The profile page is well filled out with enough information to draw me to their website.”
For their efforts, the 3 honorable mentions will all receive a $250 fundfindr Premium Services credit.
Thanks to the other entrants and look for this week’s announcement of the launch of The Pitchies competition with over $25,000 in prizes. So practice your pitch, publish it for free at www.fundfindr.com, share it, embed it, get support, feedback and investor exposure!
A busy week in the life of a fundfindr reporter. Last week I flew into Vancouver for a week of work, fun and more fun work! For the most part my job as marketing and promotions with fundfindr allows me to live in small town Alberta but on occasion I get to “road trip” it and cover events, interviews, etc…
The following is a photo journal on my (and Shannon, Ben, Doug’s) time in Techcouver:

Upon arrival it is full on Pitchies Competition.. details, entrants, prizing, official rules and the goods that go with a competition launch!
Wednesday is no slacker as we were in full steam mode getting ready for Launch Party 4. Last minute details (aka business cards, tweaks, re-tweaks, getting Doug his T-shirt and driving madly around the city prepping for the night.. forgetting the extension cord!)

While LPV4 is happening, co-reporter Shannon Kaplun is over at the Art Gallery for the opening of Vidfest and VIGS.
I, of course, am jealous when I learn she was able to ride the Mondo Spider!

The media is in full force at the Creative Vidfest Conference covering the event, so guest speaker Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief of Wired magazine, had his hands full at the media scrum after his speech on the new ‘free economy’.

The rest of the day is filled with catching glimpses of the conference while snagging the speakers to give us the low down on their industries.
