Adeo Ressi is a serial entrepreneur, focused on launching companies in new markets. He was an early pioneer in the growth of the World Wide Web, an advocate for the burgeoning private space exploration industry, and a champion of casual games and related entertainment. More recently he became The Founding Member of TheFunded.com, an online resource for CEO’s to research, rate, and review venture funds worldwide. Here all members remain anonymous. Adeo himself was only known as ‘Ted’ or ‘the founder’ until November 15, 2007 when he pulled off a major PR stunt by revealing his true identity.
Check out Adeo Ressi’s blog now linked in our blogroll and some nuggets below he shared at the recent Fusion Forum.

We captured Ian on a Vancouver rooftop in this exclusive fundfindr.tv interview and his insights included what you need to know about raising money in Canada vs. Silicon Valley - he’s done both. Ian conceived, branded and launched EQO, that allowed mobile communities to connect seamlessly. He has contributed to nearly a dozen disruptive technology startups including: BuzMe.com, RingCentral, the Microsoft acquired FrontBridge, Geekmail, VOXEO, eVoice and Helix. He also authored the 1997 book “HTML Studio Skills.”
More recently he started up Something Simpler which is a mantra he uses in both his work and his life. He says it’s harder than it looks to keep things simple. Something Simpler was recently selected for “Best Early Stage” award at the Canadian Financing Forum; and Ian was touted as one of Vancouver’s “Digital Media people to watch in 2008.” Check out some of the cool new projects Something Simpler is working on: RosterBot and Pulse. Watch Weston Triemstra demo the Pulse Facebook application.
Some of the Canada’s best and brightest undergraduates gathered in Vancouver from February 1 to 3 for the national finals of the business plan competition Enterprize 2008. They competed for a top tier prize of $20,000 in cash and a shot at transforming their business idea into reality. VerifyRx, a federally incorporated company from the University of New Brunswick, took the top prize. The second place winner was Daily Splice a company from the University of Victoria who we’ve been following since the regional competition (watch for their pitch once we launch our Beta site.) Third place was awarded to TechTouch, from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Congratulations to all!
Charles Voon, Chairperson of Enterprize 2008 stated that “over 300 delegates from every corner of the country came to participate in interactive workshops, business case panel sessions and other exciting events held at the Sheraton Wall Centre in downtown Vancouver.” Indeed there were many diverse participants from students studying business, and practicing entrepreneurs, to VCs and Angel Investors. One of the conference’s speakers traded up from a paper clip to a house. . .
Current business leaders and successful investors and entrepreneurs like Ean Jackson, Wayne Edgar and Ralph Turfus speak to the event’s value and impact or as Ralph says “the type of students that attend this type of event” will help “Canada’s productivity problems.”
Karen Chan of Enterprize and Kunal Gupta, Board Chairman of the Impact Entrepreneurship organization; provide further insights on the contributions of the Facebook generation, events like Enterprize and, most importantly, taking action!
Ken’s former careers included: Financial Analyst at KPMG; and Investment Banker at CIBC World Markets; and a contracted CEO/COO/CFO for numerous technology companies. He left these lucrative positions to start up his proudest professional achievement. He, along with his partner John DeHeart, co founded the largest homecare and staffing provider in Western Canada: Nurse Next Door. Since their inception in 2004 they have grown their business by 3400%. Talk about branding - I see their cute little cars painted with pink and white flowers and hearts around Vancouver everyday.
