fundfindr.com was recently featured on a Get Connected TV episode on start-ups. Check out host Mike Agerbo on the Get Connected website talking about how one of the biggest challenges for new businesses is funding. You can also see the feature via the You Tube link in the video thumbnail above.
Get Connected TV describes fundfindr as an “easy to use pitching site” and a “great resource to hone your pitching skills.” Mike demonstrates many of the features and benefits so check it out.
You can also see this feature in a podcast at getconnectedradio.com. This episode also featured our friends and Pitchies sponsors at Sitemasher - we recommend you check their exciting new website builder and CMS out!
More media coverage for fundfindr with a feature yesterday on vator.tv, Entrepreneur Matchmaking sites. Is there a market for services that bring ideas and money together?
Vator.tv is a media site that features innovation, new ventures and social networking. We’ve been a fan since we discovered them last summer and we recommend posting your pitch on vator as well as fundfindr to extend your audience. In this regular feature, Vatorbox, host Bambi Francisco, Investment Banker Ezra Roizen and Analyst Lise Buyer discuss fundfindr and RaiseCapital.com - two of the emerging professional networks for small business.
The panelists reinforce that services like fundfindr are definitely needed with over 80,000 small businesses registered on Facebook alone, a million new small businesses annually in the U.S. and 57,000 angel investments last year. They discuss the challenge in business models that entrants face, provide a pitch critique and pick a winner - thanks Bambi! The signal is clear - venture capital will be disrupted and complimented by convenient, cost-effective and efficient services like fundfindr.
To see our comment on other players in this space and clarifying a couple of points - like the feature’s error that fundfindr does not have original content - click here and scroll down to comments.
An excerpt of the comment: “ Like Bambi suggests of vator, fundfindr will also take a collaborative approach and partner with complimentary services and events (like Vator). The space is dynamic including: i) deal flow software providers (Fundability) that as Bambi said will battle with Angel Soft, ii) funding request sights charging for investor access (GoBigNetwork, Findthatmoney), iii) training/education (Fundinguniverse modules) or charging for broadcasts of VCs chatting (Fundingpost - anyone paying?), iv) idea forums (didn’t go so well for Cambrian House) and v) media sites with pitches like Techcrunch and Vator. Our take is there is a substantial market to serve here but not simply based on business models of advertising or success fees. And not by throwing more dealflow (video) over the transom as Lise mentioned - the key is customized, quality deal flow, quality content and creating the efficiency and liquidity Ezra mentioned.”

Well, some of you figured out that our post and news release yesterday on World Celebrity Idol had a bit of hype built into it given the April 1st release - if you figured it out, good for you especially our url, world rent lol .com. As we said, we were having fun but we are very serious about our mandate to find the next rising business stars and connect them to the investment community. We had a great time launching at the Massive Tech Show and kudos to Lindsey Smith and the whole team for a massive event. Great to connect with many small businesses, start-ups and service providers and the reaction to fundfindr was awesome - thank you! Look for our video coverage coming soon!
A couple rising stars we met that we’d like to bring to your attention are Florence Leung of PeerFX and Colleen Nystedt of Movieset.
Florence is in early stages but has a great concept of democratizing foreign-exchange and is now looking for angel investment - we recommend you check PeerFX out as a great opportunity and we will have her pitch on fundfindr.com very soon. Check out PeerFX on Dragon’s Den in this video - they got the deal but later turned it down because of the valuation. As we stated in our post on Dragon Jim Treliving, we’ll be sharing some other Dragon’s Den insights in future posts.
Colleen is further along the venture dating process, having raised approximately $1Million but is now at the VC round. We are impressed by the concept of a fan-based community that brings them behind-the-scenes and engages them in a dialogue with producers before the film’s release. Well done Colleen and we will look forward to highlighting your progress and potential to the investment community.
fundfindr.com is all about sharing the next Business Idols with investors and the rest of the fundfindr community. Stay tuned, compete, comment and enjoy the fun and let’s help create some big wins.
